February is always special at La Garúa of Seattle. It’s the month of “World Nutella Day” established by Sara Rosso in 2007 in celebration of a way to introduce her favorite spread to her friends. We have “Groundhog day” that derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day and sees its shadow due to clear weather, it will retreat to its den and winter will go on for six more weeks, if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early. Last we have “St. Valentine’s Day” It originated as a Christian feast day honoring one or two early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine and through later folk traditions, has become a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.
